The Gruesome Discovery That Shocked Investigators
On February 5, first responders rushed to a rented home in Ooltewah, Tennessee, for a CPR call in progress. What they found was a nightmare: Gabriella Perpétuo, Lee’s girlfriend of roughly 10 days in the home, already dead from horrific injuries.
Autopsy findings revealed blunt force trauma homicide: a broken neck, severe brain injury, stab wounds to her abdomen and legs, a human bite mark on her shoulder, black eyes with heavy swelling, and a massive bruise on her head. Dried blood covered her face and neck. Shockingly, her pants had no cuts—suggesting they were put on after the stabbing.
Lee’s Story Crumbles Under Blood Evidence
Darron Lee told deputies his girlfriend “might have fallen in the shower.” But crime scene photos told a different story: blood spattered in multiple rooms, cleaning supplies next to scrubbed-but-still-positive stains, and clear signs of attempted cover-up.
Lee himself had facial injuries, lacerated hands, chest wounds, and blood inside his phone case. Alcohol, narcotics, and a gun were found at the scene.

Prosecutors revealed Lee was already on probation in Florida for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery, plus attempted batteries in Ohio. District Attorney Coty Wamp called the case “capital eligible” and argued Lee’s shower-fall explanation “doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.”
